Hello riders and friends,
The Peruvian Pleasure Horses of Texas is holding a trail ride and camp over at Lake Somerville, Nails Unit on October 20-23, 2013. (Sunday-Wed) Make your reservations thru the Texas State Parks System/website.
There are water, electric and 2 pens at each site, as well as bathrooms with hot showers available. Trails are easy to moderate with sand and aggregate that the parks dept is using to control erosion. You do not need shoes on your horse if it has good feet.
Chef David DeTamble is joining us and cooking all dinners and one breakfast; meals are complimentary for PPHOT members. You are responsible for 2 breakfasts and all lunches.
Please RSVP to me at this email address to be included in the meals count. We should have wonderful weather.
I look forward to seeing you.

PPHOT will be camping and riding at Parrie Haynes Youth Ranch June 13-16, 2013. Make your reservations now by calling Ona at (254) 394-0330 or go to the website www.parriehaynesequestriancener.com
Some sites have 1 pen, some have 2 pens andsome have 3 pens. Most have water & electric. Trails are rocky and shoes are recommended. I suggest that you go to the website and print the trail maps. You will pay the ranch for your camping site. PPHOT will not be collecting any money.
We are fortunate to have our chef, David DeTamble with us for this trailride. He will prepare meals for PPHOT members: Thurs - Sat dinners and a full breakfast on Saturday. You are responsible for your lunches and breakfast Fri and Sun, as well as your drinks. If you want to become a PPHOT member, you can complete the attached membership form and return it to me with $35. This will include meals for this calender year when David attends. Membership Application can be found at: http://www.peruvianpleasurehorsesoftexas.org/
Please RSVP to me with the number of members in your party who will be attending, as I need a 'headcount' so that we purchase the correct amount of food.
We are going to have a good turnout for this ride. I'm looking forward to seeing each of you and having a great weekend.

You are invited to join the Peruvian Pleasure Horses of Texas (PPHOT) in a campout and trailride at the Hill Country State Natural Area Sep 26-30. We will be camping at Chapa group area. Some will arrive on Sep 26 and others will arrive Sep 27 and 28. We will hold a fast ride and a slow ride each morning, with the fast ride leaving camp at 9am and the slow ride leaving at 9:30am. Riders will return to camp before 1pm. You may also ride on your own.
There are only 2 electric hookup sites still available. Please contact me immediately if you want one of these.
Bring your own potable water; horse water is available in camp. There are a limited number of pens available on a first come basis. Bring a portable pen or picket lines.
Meals: All dinners and Saturday breakfast will be prepared for PPHOT members by Chef David. Other member meals are on your own. To participate, you must have paid your annual membership dues of $35/family address. An application is attached. Or, you can 'do your own thing' for meals. A final headcount will be provided to David Sep 18 so that he can purchase the correct amount of food.
When you arrive at the park, go to the ranger station to pay their day use fee. Be sure to get a trail map. Then, proceed to the Chapa Group Area, park your rig and find me to pay for camping. PPHOT is collecting $25/site/day to reimburse the Treasury for the $600 campground deposit. Day riders and those without electric will be charged less.
I hope to see you there!

Hello!  Just wondering if there are any fall trail rides on the schedule yet?  We have been unable to trail ride this spring but are looking forward to a busy fall riding season.  Really enjoyed the Thanksgiving weekend ride at Lake Somervelle!!!

Wish I could attend, but I don't have a trail horse anymore.  Have fun!  PPHOT rides were always fun!

The Peruvian Pleasure Horses of Texas (PPHOT) will host a trailride at San Angelo State Park April 26-29. Our wonderful Chef David will be with us cooking Dinner Thurs, Fri, and Sat and Breakfast Sat for all members; food is provided by PPHOT for members. Other meals are on your own. Please join us for this ride. Make your reservations thru the TX Parks & Wildlife Reservation System (512) 389-8900. I have been told that all equestrian campsites with pens, water and electric have been taken, but there are additional sites around the corner and across the creek at the Bald Eagle campground. You would need to bring your own pens.
Directions: Travel from East to West on Hwy 87 a few miles after going thru San Angelo to FM 2288. Turn left (West) under Hwy 87 on FM 2288 and go 1 mile to North Shore Entrance (Bald Eagle). Check in at the guard shack and pay; get a code for the lock on the campground gate. Retrace your steps back to FM 2288 and turn left. Go about 1 1/2 miles; you will cross a bridge over a creek; turn in on the left (no sign). Use the code to unlock the gate. Drive straight ahead and you will see a sign that says something like....'Dead End' or 'no outlet'; just keep going around the corner as this is where the equestrian campgrounds are.
There is a Shell gas station on a corner in San Angelo that has outside pumps that are easy to get in/out of. Also, the gas station on the West side of the Hwy 87 and FM 2288 intersection is easy to pull in/out of.
There is a Texas Trail Challenge scheduled for Saturday April 28. If you want to participate, go to www.texastrailchallenge.com This is a good way to introduce the Peruvian horse to other horse people. It is usually 4-6 miles with several judged obstacles. A fee is required to participate.
We are looking forward to seeing you there.
