Hi Eddie,
I'm sorry to hear about the passing of your Great Aunt. I could feel the love and admiration you have for her in your message honoring her. She sounds like she was a terrific lady. With deepest sympathy, Laura

Profile Information

My Location: (City, State, Country)
St. Louis, MO / Newport Beach, CA
About Me:
My name is Eddie Bozesky. I live in St. Louis, Missouri in the winter and spend a majority of my summers at our home in northern Michigan. I also spend time in Newport Beach, CA. I was introduced to the breed when I was 12 and have had a passion for the Peruvians ever since. I was making a visit to a Peruvian that my great aunt decided to give me at Spanish Oak Farms. Conchuela was pregnant, and so my aunt Judy and I spent 3 long nights in a row. The fourth night, the foal was born. There was an extreme heat wave in St. Louis at the time so when the big storm hit to cool everything down, Caliente was born. He was named Caliente for the heat stroke. While I was at Spanish Oak Farms checking out the colt, Dail Loyd, owner, and Eddie Gutierrez, her trainer at the time, offered to take me on a ride. Of course I took the oppurtunity, I hopped on a quiet mare bareback and just rode around the indoor arena. I still remember that first experience of the smoothness that is a luxury to ride. (I hadn't ridden my mare yet because she was very pregnant when I was introduced to her.) Eddie complemented me on my seat (I had been riding English before.) and asked me if I would be interested in going to the Nationals in 2006. Of course I jumped at the opportunity and it was the best decision of my life. I began riding our mares more often to get used to the thread and began going out to Spanish Oak Farms very frequently. I became very close to all the staff members and quickly, my family and I became very involved with the farm. I prepared for months, driving 1 1/2 hours out and back every Friday and Sunday. I learned everything I needed to know from Eddie Gutierrez, my trainer. I did a lot of research on the Peruvians and I soon began to realize what I had been missing for years. Dail had been a family friend of my family for years and I never knew about this breed? As showtime grew near the excitement was unbelievable. I flew into Ft. Worth to meet my show horse, JWF Mirasol (Spanish Oak Farms), Eddie, and Greta, another staff member at SOF. Unfortunately Dail was sick. The night before my classes I took Mirasol out one more time. The next morning I began my classes. The group was small, and the three same people were in the top 3 every class. My biggest competition was one of the greatest people in the breed. Both as a junior and a rider, Marissa Garcia and I battled it out. It all paid off in the end. We both won the 2006 U.S. National High Point Junior title. It was the greatest experience in my life. I have grown extremely close to Dail and I am now very involved with the farm. I went to Nationals in 2007 and It wasn't so pretty, but I am very happy to say that a great friend in the breed, Marissa Garcia won. As of right now, we are without a trainer and looking. I continue to ride and enjoy the breed in so many ways.

I would like to thank Dail Loyd, a great friend, and my late Aunt Judy, who passed away about a month ago. They have helped me accomplish and reach my dreams. I can't wait to show again. The farm is looking for a trainer, but once we have one back in place, I can't wait. Hopefully I'll see everyone at the John Justin Arena in 2009, and a few others on the way!!

Thanks,
Eddie Bozesky (Spanish Oak Farms)
