Recently noticed my mare is hock wringing.  Is that something that a chiropractor can fix or any exercises to correct it or is it just a conformational issue?  Left rear is much more noticeable than…Continue

"You might try hand-walking her with a bareback pad or saddle with a loose girth and breast collar and if she won't go forward willingly, try having someone pony you or go in a zig-zag as she will turn, but not go straight."

Need some suggestions.   16 yr old Mare I've had about two years now.   When we first got her, she was ridden almost daily.  She would do all gaits smoothly and with little effort.  Went well for about 4 months, then she started having problems being on grass and she would try and bit you when you saddled her.  We were riding in a sand area, so thought maybe the harder ground would help.  She was on a dry lot with only being able to see other horses, so upon advice of the vet, we treated her…See More

Frustrated

Posted on January 10, 2015 at 9:31am 8 Comments

Being new to the breed, of course I'm online all the time looking for articles, information, etc...

Why does there seem to be such a lack of information on Peruvian Pasos and what information is online, is years if not decades old.   I frequently find the same articles over and over again. One gets the impression that these horses were a "fad" that has since waned out ...  Another issue I run into quite frequently are web links that no longer exist.

Search QH or TB and the…

Tack question

Posted on November 13, 2014 at 5:56pm 2 Comments

Forgive me for my newbie ignorance.  I cannot find any real good pictures on how to put tack on a Peruvian.  Anyone know of anything out there?   I would love to get all the gear for my mare, but alas it's going to have to be one piece at a time.   How exactly to the stirrups attach?   Can they be attached to a western saddle?  I have a very nice flex tree western saddle that fits her well and I'd rather keep using it.   However I would like to switch the stirrups on it to the Peruvian…
