Hi Brandy, What a wonderful story. Thank you so much for sharing it. I have found that no matter how badly they are treated, with love and respect, the Peruvian will love and respect again. I believe they are the most wonderful horses in the world.…

Profile Information

My Location: (City, State, Country)
Phoenix, AZ, USA
About Me:
My husband Bill and I have a Peruvian Paso who is the love of my life, our Peruvian Paso, Rayo de Olympico CdeA (aka) Conquistador. Conquistador is a four time champion and high point Peruvian horse in our region. He is a wonderful horse and the spokesperson and namesake of the equine rescue and advocacy program we started to honor him, the Conquistador Equine Rescue and Advocacy Program. The URL is: www.conquistadorprogram.org. In addition we have two Peruvian stallions, S.H. Burlon, the son of 13 time US National breeding Champion of Champions, AEV Oro Negro, and our other wonderful boy, DOR Velocipedo, the sire of our mare Hija de Sol Y Luna (aka Sunrise). In the rescue, we recently had M.M. Zarita who was sired by S.H. Burlon. Zarita just found a wonderful home in Gilbert, AZ with a wonderful horseman. Zarita literally is having the time of her life racing around her very own pasture with two handsome mules as her buddies. She has found her forever home and her forever friends. In the rescue now we have both M.M. Machito and M.M. Figuroso who are full brothers and the grandsons of the great Peruvian and American champion Fascinacion. Machito and Figuroso are stallions and are just very good and handsome boys. They are looking for a home where they can continue to be together as they have been for their entire lives. We love the Peruvian horse above all.

Just wanted to be sure to tell you we got thru the 24 hour window with the clogs on Diego he wasn't so sure how to walk withthings like that as he has never had shoes on but today he seems to feel a bit better but still of course on Bute and Aspirin mostly asperase and I had to give him a shot yesterday for his pulse to slow down etc he sure hates shots but once in a while he sems to understand they make him feel better but others well you know how they get when they don't want a silly simple shot.
But This morning when we went out he was laying in his bed resting and seemed comfortable and his pupils looked normal but we got his morning meds in him and his surpass on him and he now offers his feet to me for the surpass to be placed on he is sucha sweet boy .
I think the Clogs will really help at least they stay on .Farrier was so pleased Diego didn't flinch at sound of the electric drill when he was putting on the clogs they screw those on.
Diego hears Norm drilling and making racket all the time and doesn't mind his clippers but Jerry didn't know that.
Jerry has been doing our horses feet for 8 years and if we or he moves not sure what we will do.
I'll write more in a bit okay Elvis says thank you for the kiss Diego too
Thank you for caring

Hi Pat,Diego is hanging in there for now praying for more normal weather .
Farrier put his special shoe things on they call them clogs sure hope he can tolerate them work like the foam stuff does but the stupid weather can't get them off due to apple flavored Bute Taste today
gave him a shot last night to help his pulse .
He had a bad pain cycle day yesterday and I had given him everything he needed this is just such a scary thing.
He has to pull though this I can't stand the stress and I sure couldn't handle loosing him old age is one thing this is another.
Don't wanna geld Elvis but not sure we can not do it either.
Farrier says do it,he knows Elvis is going to be a handful when mares come in and most do lead a lonely life not being able to be out with others like a gelding would.
Elvis is missing Diego so much he hollers out to him especially if Diego is out of sight due to being in his shelter or side of his pen Elvis can't see him.
sure can tell Osadia and even Tammie are worried too.
can't get to yuma this month too much happeneing here and haven't gotten our Vet bill yet ,probably gonna be a big one.and still not done so having to stay home period.
Going to talk to Chelsie Halstead about working with him a little bit he and myself too while we wait see how Diego is going to do.Have her out an hour at a time can't afford full time right now with Diego's stuff going on but something is better than nothing for the Kid
well have to run

I kept forgetting to come look at your comment - thanks for the information. I cannot get over how much your stallion looked like our Principe del Valle, Joven. I understand about the color - Principe was registered buckskin, but had a silver sable coat in the dead of winter! Very short hair! He was like your guy in that you could use him around any horses and handle him easily. Thanks for taking the time to answer. Pam

Hi Judy,

I don't know the Sandigos personally but have heard very good things about them from everyone I talk with. I did meet a woman who they were training a stallion for. She really liked them very much. They do sometimes come to the shows at Westworld and in California and have lovely horses. Also, I think Hugh Richardson knows them pretty well too.

Do you have Juan's cell number? If not, can you email me at my email address and I will get it to you. Juan trained both Sunrise and Burlon for me. He is just a wonderful horseman, as his son says, Juan speaks the language (of the horse). Also, he has a lovely family and is very well thought of everywhere. He treaats the horses with much love and respect. He just showed Sunrise and Conquistador for us in the Burbank show a couple months ago.

We love our Peruvian stallions. Someone once told me the Peruvian stallions want to be loved and cared for and if you do that, they are your friends for life and we have found that true.

Take good care. I have been thinking about you and am so glad to hear from you.

Pat

Hi
I talked to a Trainer this morning by name of Sandigo's in Yuma he works for the JBS ranch and is accepting horses for training etc.
Their english isn't great but their son is calling me back so I can ask more questions
they are in Yuma closer than a few places I could take him.

I just want some ground manners more than I can do on him done by someone that knows how Peruvians are suppose to move.
Have Juan Garayar's number.
Isn't that who you took S.H Burlon to in Calif?
have a few other names but need him close enough to get to if possible in one day.
Iam terrible with names bad memory these days.
For now the kid needs to be let grow up some but needs some ground things done with him.
then as a 2 yr old I want to do some Zootech classes
Of course him remaining a stallion will be once we see if he is going to continue to be good natured and do as we ask of him each and every time.He is a kid now(a large kid) and worried if he gets to hot we won't be able to keep him a stud colt until we can get him off to proper trainer etc.
Hope you are well
need to run just now .
Judy

Hi Pat
Well Norm and I keep talking about Elvis
we will try to keep him a stallion until he is 2 yrs old if he doesn't turn to onery for us to handle we can start looking for someone that would be good to lease him too.
We are kinda considering Texas as a place to retire so would hopefully maybe be able to find someone there to Lease him.
Have a whole year to consider things.
Norm won't get retired for a couple years yet but time fly's.
If you think you know someone in Texas that would talkto me about Elvis we could do that sooner.
I just know right now selling a horse is a hard thing to do.
he is still a youngster.
It would be okay if someone wanted to show him to get him a name but again we almost would rather he isn't shown but so many people have this thing that if ya don't show a horse you can prove who or what they are.
I think that is bolderdash and all that but I know how some folks think
but not all horses take to the ring.
Seen lots colic due to stress of it all even some go down.
Diego liked it .
Wish we had the fund s to show him as a Luxury Gelding being locked in gait now and all grown up.
anyway Oh Elvis got his winter blanket he was so good and let me put in on no problem last night. It won't get on tonight because should be under 40 but rest of the week and weeks coming up nights will be cold.
We got him a 64 inch and afraid it will only fit if we are lucky 2 months but have another one that he could slip into at that time.
well have to go
Talk to you later .

That's so cute :)
And so many people don't think horses or even other animals know what we silly humans are up to.
heheheh it is so fun when they react ontheir own accord to things they know we want of them .
I had a Morgan stallion years ago who was 8 times national champion and if any one clapped when he was in an arena even for exercise or learning patterns etc he would spin around and set up ever so pretty.he was a riot too.
Hope you had a nice thanksgiving
I had to stay home woke up middle of the night sicker than a dog and won't be on here long today wasn't at all yesterday.we were suppose to go to my sons for dinner I was so bummed.
Anyway give all the kids a hug from me
