Is a Senior Outreach System needed for senior owners of senior horses?

Is a network of volunteers to find Seniors with Peruvian horses who may not be on the internet nor currently connected with the various local, regional, or national Peruvian associations needed? Such as volunteers that might help families with decision making ie planning for appropriate disposal/dispersal. Perhaps some fund needs to be established to help out with trailering or short term feeding while plans are finalized.

It has come to my attention that a number of horses need re-homing from senior citizens no long able to care for their senior horses. Examples include horses that were given away with good intentions but the horses were overworked for their condition (or bred), horses seized by law enforcement authorities, horses taken to local auctions and sold for slaughter.

Could we discuss this here?

CA PP rescue underway-
SHONIE &/or LAWRENCE SCHINHARL have given up their Peruvians due to health reasons. Homes are needed for the HHR horses:stallions, geldings, and mares.
contact Linda Matthews linbcat @ roadrunner.com if you can offer a home, transportation, feed, or financial assistance.

3 horses have already been removed to foster care(one has been adopted and 2 can be adopted) and the remaining 4 or more need a place to go.

Hi Susan-

I think this is an excellent idea. We could set up a network of volunteers here as a "group" on the site. The group could function as a communication hub between regional network volunteers. Let me know how I can help.

Best,
Laura
