The World of Peruvian Paso Horses

I have a horse rescue in weatherford, tx and I have been given a 19 yr old mare that has a hip injury on her left rear. She still gates if she and when she starts trottin across the arena on her own...she is very timmid of enclosed stalls, most likely from her trauma.
I would like some advise in finding this gal a good home, she deserves that much, but I have no luck with helping her in this direction, please advise me to find her a good home.

If you check with Parkview Peruvians, Bill & Karen Molkethin in Edgerton, WI, they may know something about BR Iberia. They have Cayatano & knew Connie Ribo-Hooker very well & have other's of her horses. I have BR Montserrat which also came from Connie's ranch in Texas years ago. Her brother just sold her last horses in Oregon after she passed away last year. I know that there were some pictures of for sale horses from Barcelona Ranch on www.peruvianpasofun I don't know if they are still shown on her ranch page. Doris Loeffler may have some information about BR Iberia also....but Karen & Bill would be your best source.

Hi! I see the photos of Iberia are listed on the online studbook now. It sure does look to be the same horse. I hope you find her a forever home soon! Best Wishes, Tamra

Greg says he sent photos of his rescue mare to the registry office where they were compared with registration photos of BR Iberia. The registry office is better than 98% sure that by photos show the same horse.

Greg has not been able to contact the last recorded owner, Kathy Fleming, to confirm that she had sold/given her mare away. This mare needs a retirement home. She is pasture sound and has given rides to children.

Hi, I see BR Iberia is listed on the online studbook as being owned by Kathy Fleming. It only lists her color as chestnut. Markings are not listed. She has 6 registered offspring, having been bred to Cayetano 3 times, MGF Amanecer Del Flor 2 times, and Retrato once. Hope this helps.
Sincerely,
Tamra

Iberia is the name of the mare that Greg has referred to... the one with the hip injury. We have corresponded privately and wonder if the mare might be 23 year old, BR Iberia.

Greg's mare is marked with a star and right hind sock. She has some evidence of wire or rope injury on the inside of her hocks as there are lines of white scar hair.

Does anyone have a picture of BR Iberia or know of her current whereabouts? Or have access to the online studbook to check the markings of BR Iberia or any other mare with Iberia in her name?

This mare is pasture sound and has had children led on her back.

I can read english well and speak some words but in spanish ,my language, I can explain better my thinking. It might sound harsh but its always better for a horse to have a short and satisfied life rather than a long, painfull and limited one. Good luck for you and your old mare* wish you the best..

http://pets.groups.yahoo.com/group/PPasoRescue/ is one place that you can list her.... also http://www.donatemyhorse.com/index.htm and if you know her original breeder, some people will take back horses that they have bred or owned over the years

If a safe home can't be found, you may have to consider euthanasia.
